Patrick Testin Releases Secondary Education Reform Plan

“Wisconsin Education Achievement Initiative” tackles cost of tuition, student debt financing

Stevens Point, WI — Patrick Testin, candidate for the 24th Senate District, today released an education reform plan on his website, called the Wisconsin Education Achievement Initiative.

“Wisconsin needs common-sense education reform to make secondary education more affordable,” Testin said. “It takes the average student six years to graduate after which they spend decades paying off large student loan debts. I believe we can change that through smart approaches to education reform.”

Testin’s education plan details five reforms that will make it easier for students to graduate on time and with less student debt. They include:

  • Limiting general education requirements
  • Changing UW System school staff dynamics
  • Linking tuition price to the Consumer Price Index
  • Increasing educational competition
  • Providing refinancing options for students

“As a UW Stevens Point graduate, I understand first-hand how the loan crisis burdens students,” Testin said. “My education plan addresses critical issues that need immediate action.”
